Hi I’m Hannah and I founded the school with Tilly in 2013. I started performing at a young age making my professional debut as Gretel in The Sound of Music aged five. My earliest memories are performing as part of the junior dance troupe in the Hull New Theatre Christmas pantomimes, competing in local dance and drama festivals and playing the lead mouse in the Scottish Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker.

In 2004 I became a member of the National Youth Theatre and at the age of eighteen I accepted a place to read Drama at The University of Manchester. During my time at university I worked with Bruntwood Prize winner Alistair McDowall appearing as Jane in Nettles (Contact Theatre). I was also nominated for Best Actress at the Manchester In-Fringe Theatre Awards 2009 for my performance as Sally in How Hard It Happens (John Thaw Studio).

Since graduating my credits include Helen in No Wonder (Manchester Library Theatre), Winnie in Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days (Hull Truck Theatre), Hilary in The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband (East Riding Theatre), Lemon in The Three Kingdoms, Ray in Treat Night, Pea in The StorytEllas and Betsy in It’s Different for Girls (She Productions).

I am delighted at the success of Northern Lights Drama and to be working with Tilly as the directors of the school.

Hello I’m Tilly and I founded the school with Hannah in 2013. I originally started acting and dance lessons to help improve my confidence and self-esteem. I quickly caught the performance bug and took part in many productions as a child including Annie, Bugsy Malone and Snow White (Hull New Theatre). I was also chosen to appear as Rafaella in the national tour of Lanza the Last Serenade aged eleven.

I am also a trained dancer and I attended the Yorkshire Ballet Scholars on a weekly basis and I was a member of The Royal Ballet School associates programme up until being eighteen

I waved goodbye to Hull in 2006 after successfully auditioning for drama school at the age of eighteen. I attended the prestigious Arts Educational School of Acting, London and gained my BA HONS in Acting. My drama school credits include Donna in Taking Care of Baby, Hermia in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Iris in The Love of The Nightingale.

Since graduating I have appeared as Zoe in The Last Room I Checked (The Arcola), Tammy in Ballroom Glitz, Nora in Spacewang (Hull Truck Theatre), Fairy Godmother in Cinderella and Princess Peach in Jack and the Beanstalk (Middle Child Theatre Company at Fruit Space). My film and TV credits include To Be Or Not To Be in Shakespeare Channel 4, Fay in Via Domus, Lacey Howells in the series Watch Over Me and Katy in the Drink Aware Campaign.

I am delighted at the success of Northern Lights Drama and to be working with Hannah as the directors of the school.

Zoe

Hi, I'm Zoe!  I knew from a very young age that I wanted to pursue a career in acting and musical theatre when I auditioned for a production of ‘High School Musical’ and landed the role of Sharpay Evans at 14 years old which was performed at Hull New Theatre. Since then I have played many leading roles in musical productions. Most recently I played the part of Elle Woods (my dream part!) in 'Legally Blonde The Musical' at Hull New Theatre...

Hi, I’m Zoe! I graduated with a First Class BA HONS degree in Drama and Theatre Practice from The University of Hull in 2019. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to pursue a career in acting and musical theatre when I auditioned for a production of ‘High School Musical’ and landed the role of Sharpay Evans at 14 years old. Since then I have played many leading roles in musical productions. Most recently I played the part of Elle Woods (my dream part!) in ‘Legally Blonde The Musical’ at Hull New Theatre.

After completing my A-Levels in Drama & Theatre and Performing Arts I performed in a short educational film with the Humberside Police and through this I gained an agent and began working professionally for Spinoff Productions. Since then I have toured Hull and East Riding with various shows, delivered educational performances and workshops in many primary and secondary schools and filmed instruction videos for companies such as Bausch & Lomb and corporate promotional videos for Ford Retail Ltd. At university I performed in many productions and had the privilege of taking shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival each year.

It is a real pleasure working with all of the talented stars at Northern Lights Drama.

I trained in Musical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in Musical Theatre where I graduated with a First-Class Honours Degree in 2013. Since then, I’ve worked internationally with various companies including LAF in New Zealand and as part of the Festival of Cabaret in Mexico City.

I’m a founding member of She Productions, company in residence, at the East Riding Theatre in Beverley and have co-written and performed in shows such as MissCast, Beverley Does Broadway and The StorytEllas. I have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a musical version of ‘Bouncers’ and an original musical called ‘The Nice Girls’. I am also a member of the all female comedy group ‘The Scarlet Lights’. For several years I performed as part of a very successful duo and recorded an album of original material.

I then studied in Hull to gain my BA Honours Degree in Musical Theatre which led me on to teaching. I have been both Director and Musical Director for many successful shows at the Riverside Theatre at Hull College, including ‘Footloose’, ‘The Addams Family’, ‘Witches of Eastwick’ and ‘How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying’.

I love to perform but I also really love to work with others to develop their technique and become more confident performers.

Annabelle

Hello, my name is Annabelle and dancing has always been a huge passion of mine.

From the age of 3 I have always attended weekly dance classes in ISTD and RAD ballet, tap, modern, and Jazz Awards.

At the age of 14 I volunteered as an assistant at my local dance school on a Saturday morning. I loved teaching on a Saturday and it soon became the highlight of my week!

Due to my dance training from such a young age and seeing how the performing arts had built my self confidence, I went on to study at the Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama (MADD), a professional Musical Theatre college. Whilst at MADD I appeared as Cheerleader 1 in ‘Assassins’, Lynne in the popular show ‘Stepping Out’ and danced in a spectacular showcase on the Nottingham Playhouse stage.

During my time at MADD I also gained a Distinction in my IDTA Associate Freestyle teaching qualification, which allowed me to better understand the mechanics of dance and the anatomy of the body.

I’m so excited to join the NLD team and teach such a talented group of young people.
