Ben Ainsworth to Appear in Emmerdale on ITV

Ben Ainsworth (10), from Lund, will appear as a cheeky schoolboy within a classroom scene in Emmerdale on ITV this Tuesday 17th April.

“This is a great achievement for Ben” said Hannah Levy, Head of Acting at Northern Lights Drama Theatre School. “Ben is a very talented actor and we are extremely proud to have one of our pupils appear in this popular tea time soap.”

Ben joined Northern Lights Drama in 2016 and attends the Theatre School’s Holiday Workshops, Masterclasses and weekly LAMDA Examination Classes in Hessle and Production Club in Beverley.

Ben’s dad, Tim Ainsworth, recognises the contribution Northern Lights Drama Theatre School has made to Ben’s professional development. He said: “I am extremely grateful to the team at Northern Lights Drama for their continued support and belief in Ben. Hannah and Tilly are always there to provide help and advice about working professionally in the industry and Ben wouldn’t have achieved so much without their belief in his talent.”

Northern Lights Drama Theatre School has forged strong relationships with reputable theatrical agents who represent a select number of pupils. Before landing the part in Emmerdale, Ben played the role of Benji in Priscilla Queen of the Desert on board the Norwegian Epic Cruise Liner, sailing across the Mediterranean for six weeks. Ben impressed the producers so much he was then asked to play the part again for a further six weeks in the Caribbean.

Ben is very excited to see himself on television: “I couldn’t believe it when I found out I had got the part and would be in an episode of Emmerdale. The filming was so much fun and I learnt a lot from the experience. I really love to perform and I can’t wait to see the episode on Tuesday.”

Northern Lights Drama Theatre School does not restrict entry through audition as Hannah and Tilly see their role as developing everyone, irrespective of whether they wish to pursue a professional career or not. Tilly Oakshott, Head of Musical Theatre at Northern Lights Drama Theatre School said “Our classes can help develop a young person’s confidence and interpersonal skills in addition to acting, dance or singing ability. Those like Ben who progress towards professional work in theatre, film and television are prepared for auditions and a career within the industry.”

Trial your first class for FREE! Musical Theatre, Acting, Commercial Dance and LAMDA Examination Classes available for 3 – 18yrs and adults in Anlaby, Beverley, Cottingham, Driffield, Hedon, Hessle, Market Weighton, Welton and Willerby. To book please contact us.

Northern Lights Drama Theatre School Shines Spotlight on Driffield and Market Weighton

Northern Lights Drama Theatre School is very excited to announce the launch of new Musical Theatre classes in Driffield and Market Weighton from January 2018. Northern Lights Drama Theatre School was established by local actors Hannah Levy and Tilly Oakshott. Originally from Hull, Hannah and Tilly left the area to train at Drama School and went on to work professionally in theatre, film and television across the UK. Hannah and Tilly felt strongly that there was a real need for professional training in the region and guidance for those that wanted to work professionally in the industry. After returning to Hull, they decided to launch their own theatre school and founded Northern Lights Drama in 2013. Hannah and Tilly have built an independent theatre school for children, young people and adults with classes already established in Anlaby, Beverley, Cottingham, Hedon, Hessle, Welton and Willerby. In January 2018 the theatre school will expand even further with classes launching in Driffield and Market Weighton.

Hannah and Tilly are very excited to be launching classes in Driffield and Market Weighton. Hannah Levy, Head of Acting at Northern Lights Drama said “There is a huge amount of creative talent in Hull and East Yorkshire which can really shine out with the right coaching and training. We have seen rapid growth in our classes throughout the last year which has allowed us to expand even further, making our classes more accessible to families in the region.”

Northern Lights Drama does not restrict entry through audition as Hannah and Tilly see their role as developing everyone, irrespective of whether they wish to pursue a professional career or not. Tilly Oakshott, Head of Musical Theatre at Northern Lights Drama said “Our classes can help develop a young person’s confidence and interpersonal skills in addition to acting, dance or singing ability. Those who progress towards professional work in theatre, film and television are prepared for auditions and a career within the industry.”

Northern Lights Drama Theatre School has forged strong relationships with reputable theatrical agents and casting directors to find roles for those who are seeking professional work in the industry. Abbie Vena (10) from Hornsea is currently playing the title role in Matilda in the West End, Harrison Rogers (10) from Hull and Ben Ainsworth (9) from Beverley have recently played the part of Benji in Priscilla Queen of the Desert on board the Norwegian Epic Cruise Liner in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, Joe Heatley (12) from Driffield is a feature role in the new Mercedes TV commercials and Molly Price (10) from Swanland is a regular feature role in the Motor Depot TV commercials for ITV.

The Musical Theatre classes in Driffield will be held on a Monday evening at The Methodist Church (4.30 – 6.00pm) and in Market Weighton on a Tuesday evening at The Community Hall (4.30 – 6.00pm). The classes are open to 6-11yrs and children will explore dance, acting and singing each week. The classes are designed to aid and develop self esteem and the life skills needed to enable pupils to realise their full potential, at whatever age. “We praise and applaud all achievements, whether this is a pupil performing in front of a class for the first time or landing their first professional acting job. We strive to deliver contemporary and relevant classes for each age group that we teach, with a focus on exploring new skills and techniques whilst encouraging individual expression. Fun and enjoyment are at the heart of all that we do at Northern Lights Drama” explained Tilly Oakshott.

The theatre school’s inclusive ethos has allowed Northern Lights Drama to grow with over 250 pupils already attending the acting, musical theatre and dance classes on a weekly basis. The team at NLD has built a strong reputation, not only locally but also nationally, for the quality of its work with young people of all ages and abilities.

“We are looking forward to working with children from Driffield, Market Weighton and the surrounding area where I am sure we will help to develop skills, confidence and theatrical talent,” added Hannah Levy.
