NLD visit London to watch pupil Abbie in Matilda The Musical
Abbie Vena (10), from Hornsea, has landed the lead role of Matilda in Matilda The Musical by Dennis Kelly and Tim Minchin.
Abbie made her debut at the Cambridge Theatre, London on 13th September 2016 and the NLD team went along to show their support.
Tilly Oakshott, Head of Musical Theatre at Northern Lights Drama said: “Abbie was absolutely spectacular. It was a very emotional moment seeing her on stage. I was immensely proud.”
Abbie first auditioned for the part of Matilda earlier this year and was up against thousands of other young UK hopefuls for the role. Matilda the Musical is Abbie’s professional stage and West End debut.
Abbie’s mum, Jane Vena, recognises the contribution Tilly and Hannah have made to Abbie’s professional development. She said: “It is thanks to Northern Lights Drama that Abbie is where she is today. As well as providing fun and friendly classes they have a huge knowledge of the industry and give open guidance and advice. We are extremely grateful to all the team for their continued support and belief in Abbie. I can not recommend Northern Lights Drama enough”.
Northern Lights Drama is a rapidly developing local independent theatre school which has hundreds of local young people attend its classes and has placed a growing number into professional theatre, film and TV roles. It was established in 2013 by local actors Hannah Levy and Tilly Oakshott.
