We are thrilled to welcome Michaelle to the team who will be leading our Commercial Dance Classes in Welton…
Hi, my name is Michaelle and I am originally from Ecuador. I started dancing from a very young age; this was thanks to my mother who saw I had the potential to dance as I was very flexible and picked up movement quickly. Ballet was my first introduction to dance and I also took up gymnastics, figure ice skating and cheerleading.
My true passion, however, is dance and over the years I have trained in commercial, street dance, folk dance, capoeira, contemporary, salsa, and belly dancing. At the age of 16 I enrolled on the performing arts course at Hull College; taking classes in acting, singing and dance. I then made the decision to pursue a career in dance and studied for my dance degree at Hull College, graduating in 2016.
During my three year course I had the opportunity to participate with East Riding Youth Dance and I also worked with Northern Ballet, exploring the process of teaching children. This experience led me to working with young people, teaching dance and passing on my love and enthusiasm for performance.
I am currently undertaking a yoga teacher training course, which has helped me to gain more knowledge about the human body and the importance of breathing. My yoga training compliments my teaching of dance as I am able to help children to become more flexible, relax, and ultimately help them to believe in themselves and their abilities.
I am extremely excited to be part of the teaching team at Northern Lights Drama and to work with the school’s talented pupils.
